Diablo IV was announced today by Blizzard, finally confirming to fans of the beloved series that a new entry to the series is on the way. Blizzard has said the game will take place “many years after the events of Diablo III, after millions have been slaughtered by the actions of the High Heavens and Burning Hells alike. In the vacuum of power, a legendary name resurfaces.”
Director Luis Barriga at Blizzcon 2019 talked about how the game aims to recreate the series’ “dark roots”, which some fans thought may have been lost in the last Diablo game. There is currently no release date for Diablo IV yet, but it’ll be on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
The first three classes have been announced, they are the barbarian, sorceress, and the druid. Here is a gameplay trailer of those three classes in action:
This is the fourth main entry in the long-running series, which began in 1996. The most recent entry, Diablo III, came out in May 2012 and grew to become wildly successful among fans.
This announcement is sure to be welcome to core fans of the series who were extremely disappointed with the announcement of Diablo Immortals for mobile phones at Blizzcon 2018.
You can find more information about the game on the official Blizzcon website.
